The Republic of Chile continues to gain importance as a leading destination for foreign direct investment. This is not only due to its continuous economic growth, which was 5.6 per cent in 2012; Chile also has the highest per-capita income in South America ahead of Argentina and Uruguay. Last year, the country received a record USD 30.3 billion in foreign direct investment and a record number of international companies established operations in Chile. The country has become the most attractive location for FDI in South America after Brazil.

The Chilean government welcomes this positive development and invites foreign companies seeking to establish a presence or to expand their existing operations in Chile to an International Investment Forum taking place from January 13 to 16, 2014, in Santiago de Chile. The Chile Foreign Investment Committee expects 500 participating companies from around the world and from various different industry sectors, including but not limited to renewable energy, mining, tourism, ICT and food processing. The Committee will cover a large part of the associated costs such as accommodation for companies selected for the limited places at the Forum. Terrain has been engaged to support potential investor companies from Germany with the application process for participating in the Forum.

Date: January 13 to 16, 2014
Locations: Santiago (main conference), Puerto Varas / Copiapó (field visits)
